Born December 4, 1963 in East Chicago, Indiana, Rev. Dr. Carl Z. Liggins, Sr. was destined for a journey that was designed by God. At an early age he began utilizing the gifts that were placed in him at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. J. C. Wade, Jr. There, God was preparing him for Kingdom Building, serving as an Associate Minister, Children Church Minister, Tape Ministry Coordinator, Television Ministry Coordinator, Sunday School Teacher, and a Boy Scout Advisor.
Education, along with determination and his quest for knowledge, is evident in his life. After graduation from Washington High School in East Chicago, he received diplomas from the Omega School of Communications in Chicago, and the Art Institute of Atlanta. He matriculated his studies at the Inter-Denominational Theological Center - Marks, Mississippi Campus, Indiana Christian College in Gary, and Purdue University - Calumet Campus. Continually studying to show himself approved unto God, Pastor Liggins received a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education, Masters of Divinity, and Doctorate of Ministry from Global Evangelical Christian College in Montgomery, Alabama.
After moving to Jackson, Mississippi in 1993, he united with the Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as an Associate Minister. Having served with diligence as an Associate Pastor, God’s Divine Design became plain when He bestowed upon him the “Call of Pastorate” at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Lambert, Mississippi in 1997. While there he was committed to building people of purpose, prayer, power, praise and prosperity. Under his pastorate, he birthed the Morning Star Community Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit organization created to assist and nurture the lost in realizing their potential through self sufficiency and empowerment. In April, 2006, he was called to Pastor the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia. There he brought a vision to evangelize, equip, and empower the members of this congregation.
In addition to his love for preaching, Pastor Liggins truly enjoys music. Serving as a Gospel radio personality as well as a television host in Jackson, Mississippi, he has interviewed such world-renown artists as Kirk Franklin, Dottie Peoples, Max Frank, Marvin Sapp, Rev. Armond Brown of the DFW Mass Choir, the late Rev. James Moore, David Curry of the Mississippi Mass Choir and the Williams Brothers.
Pastor Liggins is a reflection of Christ. He exemplifies this through his expository and anointed preaching coupled with his love and commitment to addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, and socio-economic needs of all God’s people.
Pastor Liggins is married to Sheryl Burns Liggins, and they have two sons, Carl Zivon, and Christian DeVaughn.
